Projects…

As always I seem to take on way to many projects to do at once, or start ones that I felt where a good idea at the time. I’ve got way to many things in production atm, let’s see.

siren (myst) - Second version of my modular C bot.

dalcms - The new version of the DALnet website.

filterserv - A relay server for IRC to knock out various piece of interformaion and reformat some. The idea is to stop any akill info making it to you, convert chatops to a channel, etc.

anapos - Fully features automated play out system designed for Bailrigg FM.

GPS Utils - The utility I wrote for Geocaching and other GPS stuff for the iPaq.

I guess out of these filterserv was started at a whim, it seemed like a good idea. But I just can’t get into it. dalcms was definatly started at a whim, but has turned into something I definatly want to see finished. I think it could be really good.

siren wasn’t that much of a whim, I’d always wanted to do it, this new version however is hard to get started because it’s being done with threads and messages. I’m sure it’ll happen.

GPS Utils wasn’t really a whim, it was started with intent, the old eVB version worked well. But there’s more that can be done now, so I want to re write it.

Anapos was more thought of after John saying there wasn’t anything out there, I thought I’d enjoy the challenge. I want to do this it could be pritty funky, not to mention useful for myself as well. Good CV stock too.

So I guess right now the focus of my energy should be anapos, I’m trying to get several parts of it worked out in my head and I guess that’s the hard bit. Once I know how it should work, it will.

And on top of all that, I’m supposed to be looking for a job… go figure.

Pfft, enough for now.

Weee… things are moving on.

Well it’s been a short day really, or it’s seemed it. I’ve gone through this site some more, corrected a bunch of mistakes (I know there are loads more), I’ve fixed the images in the blog to have tool tips in Firefox.

I updated my webcam to actually pull the image directly off of the axis cameras server, so it should be ultra live. I’ll watch the bandwidth, if it’s getting to high then I’m gonna have to alter the script.

I’ve pritty much finished my CV, I’ve posted it online here with various bits removed. I’ll take it with me to the JobCenter tomorrow morning. It needs more work, but it’s not to bad. There damn’d hard to write. :)

Nothing else has really happened today, nor progressed.

TTFN,

New blog and going on events.

Well I’ve finally decided to join the masses of people on the internet with blogs, all my friends have them, so heres mine. It’s not Movable Type though, it’s a home grown variety, it only took an hour or two. It even has RSS, although considering I’m the only one who uses RSS for blogs that I know of, I doubt it’ll be used. It’s also under a creative commons license, everyone else seems to use one, and it does for a blog. I’m not sure I’d put a piece of software under one though.

I’m looking for a job, heh, gotta finish that all important CV. I’m sure it’ll appear online here somewhere. I’d like something in computer networking, security or programming I guess. I think I’m leaning towards large scale/internet networking.

I’m still single, I’m not really looking, but I am trying to loose weight, I need to. I’ve managed to loose over a stone in the past two months. Not that great I know, but graduation was in there somewhere :).

Other then that, there’s not much going on in my life. There is however some serious stuff going on in an associates life. It seems that some moron has taken it upon themselves to attempt to grab this guys domains, have thier telephone line redirected, look up all his personal information.

We don’t even really know why, she’s just decided it’s time to mess with him. His gf said it pritty well in her blog, regarding companies that give out potentially dangerious information for money and then not taking any responcibility for it. It’s stupid. At least in the UK we have rules preventing that, it’s called the Data Protection Act and it deals heavily with who can see what information, and the spread of that information. The US doesn’t seem to have anything like that, hell you can even get someones criminal and financial records.

The scope for damage is just to high, and it’s been pritty high so far. This person hasn’t done the full amount of damage she could thankfully, perhaps some of that is thanks to my associates close network of friends who are bending over backwards to put blocks in place, and attempting to bring things back to normal. In the mean time another group of his friends are in the middle of tracking this individual down with some success.

It’s worrying that the entire situation could have been prevented with a decent set of data laws. This is just some person out to cause trouble, what if it was a serious criminal, hell, I wounder how much of this stuff goes on in the US that no one knows about. Identity fraud in the UK is a serious problem, but people have to steal stuff out of bins, copy credit cards, etc. It just doesn’t seem to be that hard in the US. The sooner this is sorted out the better.

Heh, that’s enough for now, I’m sure more development will follow.
